THE SCHROTH METHOD

One of the core approaches we use at Align Therapy to support individuals with scoliosis and kyphosis is the Schroth Method. It is a scoliosis specific exercise system that has been used internationally for nearly a century and remains one of the most trusted approaches available today.

The Schroth Method was developed almost 100 years ago by Katerina Schroth, who lived with scoliosis herself. Through personal experience, she discovered that certain postures, movements, and breathing strategies could reduce both the appearance of spinal curves and the discomfort that often comes with them. Over time, these observations evolved into a structured method that continues to be refined and taught worldwide.

What Makes The Schroth Method Different?

Unlike general exercise programs, the Schroth Method is highly individualized. Scoliosis looks different from person to person, which means treatment must reflect that.

Each Schroth based program is built around:

There are no generic routines or copy and paste exercises. Every plan is tailored to the individual.

Why Align Therapy Uses The Schroth Method

The Schroth Method is one of the most research supported approaches available for scoliosis care. It has been studied extensively and continues to demonstrate meaningful benefits when applied correctly and consistently.

At Align Therapy, we intentionally chose this method because:

For these reasons, the Schroth Method serves as the foundation of our scoliosis treatment approach, helping individuals feel more capable, informed, and confident in their movement and long term spinal health.
